A 23-year-old bike rider was rushed to hospital after his motorbike collided with a Mazda 2 in Penrith’s CBD.

A young bike rider was rushed to hospital after two vehicles collided in the middle of Penrith on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Hemming St and The Crescent in Penrith about 4.30pm after a person was injured in a crash.

The 23-year-old male motorcycle rider was airlifted to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries.

The 56-year-old female driver was taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing. She is currently assisting police with inquiries

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the man had sustained a leg injury and abdominal injuries.

“I heard this big gunshot sound. I ran around the corner of my street and I saw him right on the intersection next to that pole on the concrete and he was bleeding from the stomach,” witness Joshua Duroux said.
Another witness, Aden Karakizos, said he saw a strange scene.

“I saw him flying down the road … then I saw him walk a bit after it and then he collapsed,” said Mr Karakizos.

Both Mr Duroux and Mr Karakizos called for police and ambulance assistance.

Officers from Nepean police are investigating and are calling on anyone with dashcam footage to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
