A man who police allege kidnapped a woman and sexually assaulted her several times over a three-week period has faced court for the first time.
Geoff Dean Freeman, 43, of St Marys, was arrested in St Marys on Thursday.
Police first searched a house on August 14, but will allege in court that he hid himself in a wall cavity behind a bookshelf.
During the search, police allegedly found several items of interest including mobile phones.
Freeman was arrested yesterday with assistance from the specialist tactical resources, the Dog and Mounted Command, Aviation Command, and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit.
During the second search, police allegedly found a mobile phone, duct tape and documentation.
Police will allege in court that Freeman had sexual intercourse with the woman without her consent, caused actual bodily harm during the alleged assaults, and deprived her of her liberty for a period before and after the alleged assaults.
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, sexual intercourse without consent, take/detain a person with intent to obtain advantage, stalk or intimidate with intent to cause fear, and three counts of resisting police.
He was also charged with common assault and intentionally choke without consent in relation to alleged offending against a different woman on December 15 last year.
Freeman did not apply for bail during a brief mention of his matter in Penrith Local Court on Friday, and it was formally refused by Magistrate Brian van Zuylen.
He will next appear in court on October 23.
