Fair Trading has warned people hunting for tradesmen not to deal with conman Allan James Piggott, who sometimes goes by Allan Chisel.

Since 2006, Mr Piggot has contracted to do unlicensed and uninsured work — which was often defective — under various unregistered business names.

Recently, Mr Piggott has been looking for concreting, paving and structural landscaping work in Blacktown, Seven Hills, St Clair, Rooty Hill, Minchinbury, Stanhope Gardens, Chatswood and the Central Coast.

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rose Webb said Mr Piggott had been conning people since 2006.

A previous public warning was issued about him in February 2013 and a second one earlier this month.

“Mr Piggott is not and never has been a licensed contractor, yet he continues to enter into contracts to do residential building work,” said Ms Webb.

“Mr Piggott is continuing to commit offences despite three prosecutions in 2013, 2015 and 2018.

“Based on numerous complaints from NSW consumers, we know Mr Piggott demands a large cash deposit from the consumers claiming to require this money to purchase materials for the work.

“After receiving this deposit, Mr Piggott either does no work at all or may do a small amount of the contracted works, then simply abandons the contract and takes the money.”

The unregistered business names he has been using include but are not limited to:

- Impeccable Concrete

- CAP Concrete Services

- Allan’s Concrete and Paving Service

- Allan Piggott Building Services

All 27 complaints made to Fair Trading since 2006 involve Mr Piggott contracting to do residential building work where he has abandoned the jobs, leaving incomplete and defective work at consumer’s homes.

Consumers are then forced to pay other tradespeople to finish the work.

While Fair Trading investigations into Mr Piggott continue, people looking for contract are reminded to only deal with licensed tradesman.

Anyone who is aware of Mr Piggott or any of the above-named entities are urged to contact Fair Trading on 13 32 20, or lodge a written complaint online.
