A former prison administration assistant, who had an extramarital affair with an inmate, has faced court for the first time with the support of both her husband and prison boss father.

Jessica Jade Elguindy, 25, faced Penrith Local Court where she pleaded guilty to engaging in an intimate relationship with an inmate, accessing restricted data and misconducting herself as a holder of public office.

Elguindy’s father, Corrective Services NSW superintendent Walid “Wally” Elguindy, supported her in court.

The celebrated senior officer is the superintendent of the corrections centre where his daughter was working at the time. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Mr Elguindy or her husband.

A Legal Aid solicitor told the court that Elguindy was entering pleas of guilty, and would be applying for the charges to be dealt with on mental health grounds.

The 25-year-old was granted an adjournment.

Following her brief mention, Elguindy left the courthouse hand-in-hand with her husband.

The married mother-of-two struck up a four-month relationship with inmate Beau Jones while working at Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre in Sydney’s northwest from which she has now resigned.

The pair would exchange explicit messages, photos and videos with Jones using a contraband phone that had been smuggled into custody.

Suspicions were raised by Elguindy spending lengthy periods of time around inmates, frequenting areas in the prison that she otherwise wouldn’t, and logging on to her work systems to access restricted information late at night.

Elguindy’s best friend and co-worker Amber Clavell, 25 from Hassall Grove, is facing similar allegations of an affair with bank robber Mark Kennedy, 27 and is allegedly pregnant with his child.

Clavell, who has since resigned from her role as a drug and alcohol counsellor, is charged with engaging in an intimate relationship with an inmate, two counts of access or modifying restricted data, bringing prohibited drugs into place of attention and drug supply.

Court documents allege Clavell snuck in 33g grams of methamphetamine to give to Kennedy, which she hid in two balloons “on her body” along with a pouch of tobacco.

Clavell is yet to enter any pleas and will return to court on June 4.
