Crowds enjoy XS Espresso’s new Emu Plains cafe at opening

Read what XS Espresso owner Roky Gorgees had to say during Emu Hall’s first day of opening.

The owner of the brand-new XS Espresso in Emu Hall was blown away by the reception from patrons during its official “soft launch” on Wednesday.

Roky Gorgees, who started the cafe chain out of a “hole in the wall” in Parramatta less than seven years ago, said the new store had experienced a great turn out.

“We’ve had a fair few through the door, which is what we were expecting,” he said.

“People are saying the food is amazing, and they’re loving the cafe and the building.”

Mr Gorgees said the rest of the precinct will open over the next couple of weeks.

“Today (Wednesday) is the soft launch, and we’re having an influencer launch very soon that will help grow the buzz.

“When we have the bar, dining, and picnic areas up and running in a couple of weeks, I’m sure we’ll have a lot more people.”

Despite the label of “soft launch”, Mr Gorgees said the XS Espresso would be open seven days a week.

“We’ll be open every day from 7am to 10pm,” he said.

“We’re serving all the usual XS meals with a few extras because this is our flagship store.

“This building has so much history, and with what we’ve done with the property and how it’s develop, people are seeing it as their local.”

After its humble beginnings in Parramatta, Mr Gorgees is proud of how far XS Espresso has come.

“We called it XS Espresso because of ‘extra small’,” he said. “In Parramatta, we had a little coffee machine, a sink, a few doughnuts for sale, and that’s about it.

“We moved to Wetherill Park after a couple of years, and now we have stores in Northmead, Prestons, Gregory Hills, Bondi, and Emu Plains.

“We have a couple more opening as well.”

Mr Gorgees encouraged people to come and experience the new facility.

“Come and bring the kids, have a beer or wine at the bar, and have a great time,” he said.
