The search for the culprit behind a suspected arson attack in Sydney’s west has been given new energy following the release of CCTV footage capturing the final moments before the suburban home erupted in flames.
Emergency services were called to a house fire on Dolomite Rd, Cranebrook about 9.50pm on May 25. Fire and Rescue NSW were able to quickly extinguish the blaze after containing it to the front room.
No one was home at time of the alleged attack and no injuries were reported to NSW Police.
Police believe the fiery incident was a targeted attack and have released CCTV footage showing the moments before the fire and are appealing to public to help identify a Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, or similar model vehicle seen in the area at the time.
The vehicle was last seen travelling east along Dolomite Rd, then north on Ben Nevis Rd.
Officers are further hoping to identify a person of interest shown approaching the house from the front passenger side of the vehicle.
In the aftermath of the fire, detectives from the Nepean Police Area Command established Strike Fore Heatley to investigate the blaze, which is being treated as suspicious.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
