St Marys Senior High School has been forced to close after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
It is now known whether the student is male or female, or how old the student is.
The school will be closed today, and the school will provide an update later today on any further closures.
In a statement, The Department of Education said the school was “working closely with NSW Health to assist them to conduct their contact tracing process”.
“In accordance with advice from NSW Health all staff and students are asked to self-isolate until the contact tracing process has been completed,” a spokesperson said.
“Staff and students who are identified as a close contact of the person who returned a positive test will be advised today and will be asked to self-isolate for the required period of time.”
The spokesperson said the Department of Education had set up provisions to “help students learn at home”.
“All students will continue to learn and will be provided with the same tasks to complete,” they said.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance to us at all times.
“As such, we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure all necessary health advice is adhered to.”
The news comes just a week after Blackwell Public School was forced to close its doors when a student tested positive for the virus.
