The Penrith Rams senior grade have been making their recent win look routine and on Saturday the formidable side romped to their 10th consecutive win defeating Manly-Warringah at Weldon Oval, Curl Curl.
Penrith Rams 11.8-74 defeated Manly Warringah 2.6-18 in round 15 of the AFL Sydney Division 2 competition.
First grade coach Kevin Kirk said the team played well to notch their 10th win in a row.
“They have been travelling nicely and have four more games before getting to the finals,” he said.
“We want to continue with the form into the finals to do some damage if we can.”
Kirk said the Rams had already played the next four teams previously this season.
“We have been pretty successful so far and hope to continue with the wins in the last four rounds,” he said.
The Rams have been winning their matches by convincing margins, leaving their opponents struggling.
In round 12, the Rams defeated UTS 91-43, in round 13 they beat Randwick City Saints 105-66, and in round 14 the side smashed Sydney University 126-18.
Kirk, who is a debut coach in first grade, put the success of the team down to camaraderie. “It’s a tight-knit group with rapport and good mateship,” he said. “The key to their winning performances is the mateship.”
Kirk said he was confident the players could keep their form and do well in the coming matches.
He said no individual stood out from squad and that the team effort had led to their stunning successes this season.
“We have excellent forwards and the midfield and backline have been productive — we have had good contributors right across,” he said.
