The man accused of killing Cranebrook woman Cheryl Ardler will wait another three weeks for a trial date.
Dennis French did not appear for his brief mention in Penrith Local Court this morning before Magistrate Geoffrey Hiatt.
Ms Ardler was last seen in an alleyway near a bus stop on Greenhalg Rd, Cranebrook, in December 2012.
Her remains were found six years later just streets away from where she was last seen.
French was charged with her murder in April last year, and police will allege he murdered Ms Ardler sometime between December 5 and Christmas Day.
Ms Ardler moved to Penrith from Brewarrina in 2010 after her partner of 18 years, Elwood Clarke, died of illness.
It was two years later that she began a relationship with French in 2012 and moved in with him. They had been together for more than six months before she was killed.
French was scheduled to be committed for trial in Penrith Local Court this morning, but the date was pushed back because his lawyer was not in court due to “personal circumstances”.
Magistrate Hiatt granted a three week adjournment and formally refused bail.
French will next appear in Penrith Local Court on March 27.
