A 37-year-old woman has died after a crash in the Blue Mountains.

Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, Wentworth Falls, at about 1am on Wednesday following reports a Toyota Echo left the road and crashed into a concrete barrier.

A 37-year-old woman, in the front passenger seat, was critically injured and taken to Nepean Hospital where she later died.

The 39-year-old male driver was also taken to Nepean hospital for mandatory testing.

He reportedly suffered wrist and ankle injuries.

A crime scene has been established by Blue Mountains police and investigations are underway.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam vision to come forward.
