A Mays Hill woman who allegedly tried to intimidate her neighbour in an apartment complex will fight the allegations after being accused of continuing her behaviour after being charged by police.

Violette Abouhamad, 61, is accused of intending fear of physical or mental harm (personal violence offence) against her next door neighbour Ian Kingsford-Smith and his wife Bernita.

Abouhamad was charged in January and ordered to face Parramatta Local Court last week where she did not physically attend but her lawyer, Isaac Hoballah, represented her before Magistrate Arthur Aguirre.

Mr Hoballah entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of his client following police allegations she “did attempt to intimidate Ian Kingsford-Smith with the intention of causing him fear physical or mental harm”.

The alleged victims’ solicitor, Julianne Lim, told the court Abouhamad’s behaviour had continued since her clients filed an application for a PVO in December.

She requested an interim apprehended violence order in an effort to protect her clients and under section 27 of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act, the court heard the police must apply for a provisional order.

A PVO has since been made through the police after the magistrate said “I understand the concern to put something in place”.

The PVO will be heard in court on March 26.

The case for the attempt stalk/intimidate charge is due to return to court on May 1 after the magistrate ordered a brief of evidence to be served.

Ms Lim told the court the building committee was also aware of the allegations and complaints against Abouhamad.

Outside of court, Mr Kingsford-Smith alleged Ms Abouhamad verbally abused him and his wife, with several clips filmed on a video doorbell.

In one clip on November 2, she allegedly swears towards the Kingsford-Smiths’ closed apartment door and spouts unsettling sounds before two policemen arrive.

Mr Kingsford-Smith said he gave police 130 clips to view as part of their investigation, which is continuing. Much of the footage is from the corridor outside their homes.

He alleged she targeted them after they raised several issues about defects in the building.
