Tropfest announces film convention
Tropfest has announced today it will hold a film convention at Western Sydney University in Parramatta.
Tropfest founder John Polson has built the world’s biggest short film festival, directed box office hits and worked on popular television shows like The Mentalist, The Good Wife, and The Walking Dead.
So what advice would this award-winning director and actor give to emerging filmmakers?
“The best advice I can give is this: don’t be afraid,” he said.
“Wherever your film, no matter how spectacular or wild, just dive right in and run with it.”
And to help filmmakers do that, Polson’s Tropfest has announced a film convention will be held at Western Sydney University’s Parramatta City Campus in February.
The event aims to give visitors the opportunity to meet industry leaders, learn about the latest screen developments, network and, above all, be inspired.
“After the smashing success of our TropTalks series last year, it got us thinking: how can we take this amazing educational experience to the next level?,” Polson said.
“So we decided to go all out with a huge film convention, offering an unparalleled experience for film fans across the board.”
Polson said the event was suitable for all experience levels and he hoped visitors would “leave feeling really inspired and full of awesome new ideas about where they’d like to take their next film”.
“We’ve got everything from cutting-edge tech demos, to costuming displays, to meet-and-greets with some of the most exciting names in filmmaking today — you name it,” he said.
Tropfair will be held at the university’s Parramatta City Campus on Saturday, February 9, ahead of the main Tropfest event at Parramatta Park.
