The girlfriend of a young man accused of killing two siblings in a horrific car crash in Sydney's southwest videoed him smiling and holding up his middle fingers while he was applying for bail.
Court documents state Tiana Savignano was at Parramatta Bail Court on September 3 this year when her boyfriend Johnson Kokozian was applying for bail over his alleged role in a crash in Heckenberg on September 1.
Police will allege Kokozian, 20, was driving a black Mercedes when it collided head-on with a Toyota Echo and a Toyota RAV4, killing the 24-year-old Echo driver Alina Kauffman and her 15-year-old brother Ernesto.
He is now charged with two counts of aggravated dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing death, failing to assist after a fatal crash, negligent riving causing death, exceeding speed by more than 45km/h and driving disqualified.
Savignano was charged with using a recording device in court premises after court documents state police busted her using her phone to record Kokozian as he appeared on screen during his bail application, which was ultimately refused.
“(Savignano) commences to film the television screen, which was showing Johnson Kokozian via audiovisual link,” the court documents state.
“Johnson Kokozian was shown smiling whilst raising his two middle fingers at the accused.”
The recording on Savignano’s phone has both sound and images.
All photography and recording of audio or video is prohibited inside NSW courthouses except in rare circumstances where media are permitted to film for news stories in the public interest.
Savignano has now pleaded guilty to the charge and was to be sentenced at Parramatta Local Court on Monday before the matter was adjourned.
Magistrate Peter Feather marked the papers to indicate the matter must proceed to sentence on the next occasion and it was adjourned to December 20.
Kokozian remains behind bars on remand and his matter is next to be mentioned at Campbelltown Local Court on December 7.
