Head to The Shed Cafe at Parramatta for American Express Delicious Month Out
Sydney’s western suburbs are a melting pot of cultures and one Insta-worthy cafe reflects that with its enticing dishes.
Parramatta
Don't miss out on the headlines from Parramatta . Followed categories will be added to My News.
Parramatta cafe The Shed is embracing the American Express delicious. Month Out with a menu worthy of a double tap on Instagram and, most importantly, meals to satisfy cosmopolitan tastebuds.
“Parramatta’s really diverse when it comes to culture so we try to incorporate that into our menu,’’ franchisee Sam Georges said.
“It’s a twist on Middle Eastern, Macedonian, Serbian, Croatian and then we’ve got your Aussie dishes like bacon and egg rolls.”
Georges, who has run the Macquarie St cafe with his wife Natalie for three years, will roll out the new menu from March 2 and predicts the Mediterranean Magic brunch will be a bestseller.
It has two poached eggs perched on charcoal sourdough bread with labneh chilli, oregano, sauteed mushrooms and a decent smearing of ajvar.
Other newbies are the corn fritter stacks with grilled haloumi, sauteed kale, pomegranate and smashed avocado.
The vegan bowl is enough to make a meat lover shelve their steak knifes: roasted pumpkin with falafel nuggets, charred broccolini, pickled red cabbage, beetroot hummus and mixed leaves fill the dish.
When it’s time to cheat, enjoy the banana french bread with mascarpone, caramelised banana, salted caramel sauce, seasonal berries and housemade granola crumble.
Georges says the cafe is “a little oasis within the hustle and bustle of Parramatta” that attracts many corporate clients and tourists nesting at nearby hotels during the week, while Sydneysiders from The Hills and locals fill the tables on weekends.
Georges says Parramatta’s food scene has lots to offer.
“We’ve got so many nice restaurants, cafes, bars, fine dining and casual dining where it’s at a point now where we don’t need to travel in the city to have a good meal,’’ he said.
“For us it’s about delicious food and, most importantly, good customer service.
“At Parramatta we try to create more of a family environment. We look after staff and hopefully staff look after customers as well.”
The Shed is just one of many Parramatta restaurants taking part in the American Express delicious. Month Out, which runs in our backyard as well as Sydney CBD, Surry Hills and Potts Point.
The event includes loads of great deals.
