Western Sydney Two Blues pre-match hymn song sung by rugby colts

This pre-match hymn sung by a group of young Two Blues rugby players from Sydney’s west has to be heard to be believed.

We are used to passion and enthusiasm when it comes to songs sung in sporting dressing rooms.

But this performance takes things to a whole new level.

The song being performed by the Western Sydney Two Blues colts team before their match last weekend is simply stunning and has attracted plenty of interest on social media.

Coach Kruger Roache has his young players sing before games to help them focus with their most recent song of choice the Fijian hymn Oqo Na Noqu Masu lead by Solomone Vosaicake.

“It’s a hymn of praise,’’ said the former Two Blues and Shute Shield player turned coach of the clubs young talent.

“A lot of the boys are from the Pacific Islander background and the reality is we only have three Fijian boys in the team. We have a few songs we sing.

“So we ultilise the song to look inward. We either sing a song or say a quick prayer so the boys can looking inside themselves and focus on the job at hand and what they have to be accountable for in the game themselves.’’

Roache, who is originally from Samoa, said it is not uncommon for his young guns to break into song when training gets tough.

“We have a lot of talent but the majority are from rugby league so my job is to teach them to enjoy rugby,’’ he said.

“I want to show them how to enjoy rugby. That when you are 19, 18, 20 that you need to give things your best. Give it everything you have.

“I can’t sing to save my life but the boys are very musical and talented.

“When we do our workouts the boys start singing as well.’’

The Colts sang their own version of the club song after the game to celebrate their first win of the season- a 100 to 17 defeat of Penrith.
