IT IS fair to say Patrick Spence loves his Sunday footy.
Every Sunday, the 12-year-old gets up to play rugby league for the Carlingford Cougars and then travels to an Australian rules game to play for the Baulkham Hills Hawks.
The Northmead resident is no slouch in either sport as he has earned two rugby league and one Australian rules NSW representative opportunities this year.
“I just love to play sport. I enjoy getting outdoors and having fun,” he said.
Despite being talented in a range of sports, Spence’s main focus is rugby league.
He recently played for the NSW Primary Schools A-Team at a national carnival in Canberra, which was where he played at fullback for the first time.
“It was fun. It was a bit tough but I’m getting used to playing there,” he said.
“For my club I play in the front row and for the Sydney West (Primary Schools Sports Association) team I was on the right wing.
“I like playing on the wing and at fullback now.
“I would love to play in the NRL.”
During the summer, Spence is busy playing touch and doing athletics.
Spence is this week’s Junior Sports Star, which is supported by Rebel.
