Win, lose or draw against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday, the Parramatta Eels will be rewarding their fans with a home elimination final at Bankwest Stadium and that’s got players excited.
Heading into this weekend’s round of the NRL and their Friday match-up against Manly, the Eels cannot lose the hosting rights to the crucial match
“It’s nuts, awesome,’’ said second rower Marata Niukore. “So good.
“It was a topic we bough up a couple of weeks ago in the group and it was a goal we had, to get the home game.
“We are just looking forward to playing.
“Playing at home always helps and we have a pretty good record at Bankwest.’’
The finals begin on September 13 and run through to grand final day on October 6.
Playing a role in the ongoing success of the Eels will be halfback Mitch Moses who was a man in demand at the Club’s presentation event at Bankwest Stadium on Monday.
Moses took out both the 2019 Ken Thornett Medal for Player of the Year and the Blue and Gold Army Player of the Year award.
The Ken Thornett Medal is in honour of the famous late Eels fullback and is voted on by a players teammates each week during the season.
Other top award winners on the night included Eels forward Shaun Lane who snared the Jack Gibson NRL Coaches’ award for best forward in his Eels debut season, Clint Gutherson who won the Jack Gibson NRL Coaches’ award for best back and Parramatta Eels winger Maika Sivo who took out the Eric Grothe NRL Rookie of the Year.
