South Wentworthville: Woman charged over death of man at Alto St

A Filipino national charged with fatally stabbing her business partner at a western Sydney home was involved in a “complex” relationship with him, police believe.

A Filipino woman and the partner she allegedly murdered in the South Wentworthville home they shared briefly was recently charged with assault against alleged murder victim Rhonie Apostol.

This morning, Jenny Niguidula was arrested at a Leumeah home over the death of Mr Apostol at Alto St, South Wentworthville, on November 17 when he was found with a stab wound to his chest.

Cumberland Detective Inspector Simon Glasser said the couple was known to each other and had been living in Australia briefly before the alleged murder.

“Both the male and the female were known to each other and they’re both Filipino nationals and they were here for business,’’ he said.

“We have been in touch with the family and they’re aware of the investigation.”

The couple lived in the US but were Filipino nationals and were in Australia for “legitimate” work as part of their marketing business.

“It’s a fairly unique business,’’ Insp Glasser said.

Emergency services were called to the South Wentworthville home about 5pm on November 17.

A knife was seized at the scene by Cumberland police and taken for forensic examination.

Cumberland police and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad formed Strike Force Rofe to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

After extensive inquiries, police searched a home on Rudd Rd, Leumeah, just before 9am today and arrested 43-year-old woman there before taking her to Campbelltown police station.

She was charged with murder and fronted Campbelltown Local Court.

The court heard that Niguidala had been recently charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Mr Apostol.

The murder charge was mentioned briefly before Magistrate Ian Guy. Niguidula did not appear or apply for bail.

The matter will return to Fairfield Court on Friday where she will appear via video.
