A senior Nomads bikie has faced court after police allegedly found a loaded Glock hidden in a ute.

James Butt, who has been charged with eight offences related to the firearm, including possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, possessing an unregistered unauthorised pistol in a public place and not keep firearm safely, remains in custody after the matter was heard in Burwood Local Court today.

The 29-year-old from the ACT drew the attention of police when they spotted a Holden Colorado utility towing three motorcycles on Fisher Ave, Pennant Hills, at about 7.40pm on Thursday.

While conducting a search of the vehicle, police allegedly uncovered a loaded Glock 19 pistol and ammunition.

They suspect the gun may have been illegally imported from Germany in 2011/2012. It has been seized and will undergo forensic and ballistic testing.

Police also seized Nomad leathers.

Officers arrested Butt and took him to Ryde police station, where he was charged.

He was not required to and did not present to Burwood Local Court while the matter was dealt with.

His legal representative asked the court to reconvene in two weeks and an application for his release is expected to be filed then.

Butt has a broken leg and suffers from “quite a few” medical conditions, his legal representative told the court.

She asked Magistrate Alison Viney to permit him to see Justice Health “so he can get medication and have treatment”.

The prosecution did not object and Ms Viney made the order.

Butt is expected to appear before Burwood Local Court on November 29.
