Having four children under the age of seven at school can be overwhelming but Ermington parents Antonella and John Georgas are looking forward to one thing about their triplets beginning their formal education on February 2: “One drop-off and one pick-up for me so I’m happy,” Mrs Georgas says.
The sometimes troublesome, sometimes “angelic” identical sons Tristan and Luis, and daughter Alexis, 5, are anticipating starting school at St Mary’s Primary School at Rydalmere where they will join their eldest sister seven-year-old Sienna, who is beginning Year 2.
“They’re very excited. They were upset on Friday morning because Sienna went to school and they didn’t,’’ Mrs Georgas said.
Teachers might want to take heed of advice from Mrs Georgas about her trio’s sometimes unpredictable nature.
“It’s a love-hate relationship when all three are together it’s an absolute nightmare, they egg each other on.”
For the couple, who conceived their triplets naturally, not too much shocks them compared with when they discovered they were expecting three babies who were born on November 23, 2015.
Twins run in Antonella and John’s large Italian and Greek clans. They wanted “three or four but we didn’t expect to have them in all one go”.
“We were very surprised — the language was not very good but we’re very blessed,’’ Mrs Georgas said.
“I think we just bought the cots and bassinets and took it from there. I don’t think you can prepare yourself for triplets.
“They were in IC for four weeks and we took them home on Christmas Eve, which is also Sienna’s birthday. I think we just played it by ear.’’
The family has some saving graces when it comes to raising triplets; they have been in daycare since they were seven months old and attend Future Stars at Ermington.
Through assistance with parenting organisation Tresillian, the parents also equipped themselves with tips about infants, such as having the same feeding times for all the babies.
“If one wakes up, I should wake them all up,’’ Mrs Georgas, who is an executive assistant, said.
