A crash involving a fully laden concrete truck has sparked a major compliance operation at a transport company in Rosehill this morning.
About 4pm on Thursday, January 3, a truck carrying a full load of concrete crashed while driving north along Rooty Hill Rd North at the intersection of Richmond Rd in Dean Park. The truck rolled onto its side when the driver tried to take a right hand turn.
It came to rest on the northern kerb under the M7 overpass.
The driver and passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash. Police said after questioning the driver revealed it was his first day as a driver for the Rosehill-based company.
The crash lead officers from the Traffic Task Force and from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), to audit the trucking operation with an inspection at its Shirly St address in Rosehill at about 6.30am.
A heavy-vehicle compliance audit was carried out which found minor faults in the companies truck fleet.
A total of 23 cars and trucks were inspected during the operation, with nine minor defects and three formal warnings issued by RMS inspectors. The fines related to defective seating, vehicle lights, number plates, seatbelts, tyres and suspension.
Police conducted six random breath tests and six random drug tests, all of which came back negative.
