Pemulwuy: Cigarettes stolen from Woolworths at Butu Wargun Drive

Police are hunting for a trio of masked cigarette bandits who broke into a western Sydney supermarket and stole thousands of dollars worth of ciggies.

A trio of balaclava-clad thieves stole more than 200 packets of cigarettes worth $7000 from

Woolworths supermarket at Pemulwuy in the early hours of Sunday, March 1.

The trio broke into the supermarket on Butu Wargun Drive at 2.45am.

Police said while the group was in the store, the smoke screen was activated, which triggered the fire alarm, and Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters responded.

Cumberland police established a crime scene and are reviewing CCTV footage.

Today, they gained more details from management and undertook another canvas of the site.

Cumberland Detectives Inspector Simon Glasser said the haul would most likely be sold and was not for personal use.
