Police have downplayed an incident involving a “vulnerable” knife-wielding woman at Woolworths in Westfield Parramatta today.
Parramatta Inspector Dan Nugent said the incident involved a woman in her 40s about 1.30pm but no one was injured.
“It was very, very minor,’’ he said.
“It was dealt with with Woolies before police got there.
“Unfortunately the lady couldn’t communicate very well.”
Insp Nugent dismissed suggestions that a stampede for toilet paper for the coronavirus caused the incident.
“It wasn’t like it was an apocalyptic scramble for the last roll of toilet paper or anything like that,’’ he said.
No charges have been laid.
