Parramatta: Felix Shiells, Michael Lawson allegedly threw rocks, coconuts from Church St unit

One of two teens accused of throwing coconuts at drivers before allegedly chucking rocks at police from a high-rise Parramatta apartment block on Church St will fight charges.
Felix Shiells, 18, and Michael Lawson, 19, allegedly threw coconuts, broken bottles, potatoes, fruit and eggs at pedestrians and moving cars from a 15th floor balcony of a Church St building on January 7.
Police were called to the unit shortly before 9pm when they allegedly found broken bottles and food on the road near the tower before two mobile phones were seized.
Mr Shiells and Mr Lawson allegedly threw rocks towards senior constables Peter Driscoll, Ross Brown, Jeremy Walsh, and constables David Joseph and Beau Banks, but narrowly missed them while they were responding to the incident.
Court papers reveal Mr Shiells, of Lane Cove, allegedly assaulted a man and woman and damaged multiple cars at the nearby Thomson Ford car dealership that night.
The Public Order and Riot Squad arrested the pair and took them to Parramatta police station where they were charged with throwing a missile at police officer executing duty no actual bodily harm, intentionally throwing object at vehicle/vessel risk safety, destroy or damage property and two counts of common assault.
Mr Lawson, of Cherrybrook, was also charged with intentionally or recklessly destroying property for allegedly damaging a 2020 Ford Everest four-wheel drive at Thomson Ford.
Police allegedly found rocks and an empty egg carton during a search of the unit.
At Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, Mr Shiells pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His bail was continued and the matter will return to court on April 7.
Mr Lawson’s matter is due to return to court on March 3.
