A man who allegedly tried to strangle a woman at her North Parramatta home before her dog attacked him and caused him to flee has been charged with intent to murder.
Police have charged Peni Naiserelagi, 34, after he allegedly woke Susan Bandera in the bedroom of her Iron St house about 4am.

The woman ran and hid in her bathroom and the man fled the scene.
Parramatta police attended the Iron St property before visiting a home on Victoria Rd about 10pm on Sunday where they arrested Naiserelagi.
The man, who is known to the woman, was taken to Parramatta police station where he was charged with break, enter and assault with intent to murder.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday.
Naiserelagi did not appear via video and the matter was adjourned to October 15.
