The $360 million Western Sydney Stadium has now been named.

The naming rights were announced today by Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres along with VenuesLive.

Perth-based bank Bankwest has scooped up the coveted naming rights of the stadium, for seven years, from a short-list of six organisations.

“It’s an exciting day here in western Sydney,” Mr Ayres said.

“It’s a fantastic partnership … and fantastic we take this next step by naming this stadium Bankwest Stadium.”

The 30,000 seat stadium is more than 80 per cent complete and has already seen 26,000 cubic metres of concrete poured into the foundation and more than 3300 tonnes of steel lifted into place.

When completed the stadium will have 4300 tonnes of steel used to form the seating bowl and roof.

The stadium design is also intended to enhance crowd experience, with the seats positioned at 33.9 degrees; making it the steepest in the country.

The plans also show that more than 100 LED TVs spanning 1000 sqm will be placed 360 degrees around the stadium, with sub woofers designed in the roof to provide surround sound.

The finishing line has been on shaky ground with Parramatta Eels initially rejecting the deal presented to them by VenuesLive.

Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr stated that the club’s management deemed the offer to be “unacceptable” following an “extensive six-month due diligence process.”

After 10 days of renegotiations a deal was struck, and Wests Tigers have also committed to having their home-ground at Bankwest.

“Bankwest Stadium is on budget and on time and we look forward to the first game being played here on Easter Monday,” Mr Ayres said.
