Mrs B’s Kitchen opens in Parramatta

A SMALL slice of Americana has opened in Parramatta serving smoked meats, soul food and plenty of smiles. Did we mention there's also pumpkin pie?

Mrs B’s Kitchen opened its doors on Monday at Horwood Pl serving American, home-style food.

Guildford’s Sue Borg named the cafe in honour of her mother-in-law Doris, a great cook who died three years ago and left a lasting legacy with her family.

Sue, whose background is in retail, spent the past few years working in catering after becoming known for her smoked meats and American-style barbecue, influenced by the years she spent growing up in the United States.

After deciding to open a cafe, the hunt was on for the right location and she soon found the perfect spot on Horwood Pl, near George St.

Mrs B's Kitchen is named in honour of Sue's mother in law Doris Borg.

“We just found this site and its heritage, and we just loved it,” she said.

With large serves, affordable prices and welcoming smiles from staff, the cafe has already proved popular — they sold out of their special ribs on their second day.

Sue’s smoker produces an array of great tasting meats, from the corn beef in the Reuben sandwich to the sausages in the hot dogs and the popular ribs.

For dessert there are cakes, cupcakes and pastries, including of course an American style pumpkin pie.

Mrs B’s Kitchen is open at Shop 4, 2 Horwood Pl, Parramatta, for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.
