The classic peanut butter and jelly (that’s jam for us Aussies) sandwich has had a modern remake thanks to the guys from burger bar Milky Lane.

The popular eatery pairs burgers, shakes and desserts with music and a well-stocked bar for an all-day, all-night venue.

Their latest creation is the PBJ Burger, which has a Wagyu beef pattie topped with cheese, onion, bacon, and beer battered onion rings with satay sauce, garlic aioli and raspberry sweet chilli sauce.

“It’s like a classic American combo that we haven’t seen in a burger before,” operations director Patrick Killalea said.

Chief executive officer Pete Haselhurst said the “most fun part” was coming up with new ideas for the monthly specials.

Recent burger creations include a deep fried lasagne, Parmigiana and Italian sausage.

While they remained tight lipped about upcoming specials, diners can expect them to be just as out there.

“It’s going to be big and fun and crazy,” Haselhurst said.

To go with the PJB Burger, Milky Lane also created a PBJ Mega Shake ($16), featuring those classic childhood flavours.

The peanut butter flavoured shake is topped with raspberry jelly foam and served in a glass lined with raspberry jelly, peanut butter and chocolate chips.

The whole decadent drink is topped with a Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup and will satisfy the biggest of sweet tooths.

The epic feast is available at Milky Lane’s Bondi, Cronulla and Parramatta stores, as well as its new Gold Cost venue.

The Parramatta eatery opened its doors on March 12 after receiving demand from locals who frequented Milky Lane’s original Bondi store.

“We’ve always had so much demand … every weekend we’ve had people tell us they’ve driven from Parramatta,” Killalea said.

After a pop-up in Castle Hill confirmed the popularity of their product in Western Sydney, Killalea and Haselhurst opened their third NSW restaurant on Macquarie St.

The venue seats 160 plus another 20 in a private function room, which can be hired for events, conferences and celebrations.

Live DJ sets on Friday and Saturday night set the mood while bartender Robbie keeps crowds entertained with his showstopping moves.

The Parramatta restaurant also has the claim to fame of being the venue that made food for British pop star Ed Sheeran while he was on tour in Sydney — he and his team ordered the fried chicken Chic-Kayne, the vegetarian The Drake, the signature Milky Lane and a range of sides.

Head to the restaurant at 20-22 Macquarie St before the end of the month to try the PBJ creations.
