A heavily pregnant woman who was allegedly subjected to a terrifying attack from a man as she sat with friends in a Western Sydney cafe claims he screamed at her “Muslims raped my mum”.

Stipe Lozina is the man accused of attacking the woman, who is 38 weeks pregnant, at Bay Vista cafe on Church St, Parramatta, on Tuesday night, when she was enjoying dinner with friends.

CCTV appears to show 43-year-old Lozina, of Casula, briefly speaking to the 31-year-old woman and her friends before allegedly punching her repetitively in the head and stomping on her.

Nearby customers restrained him until police arrived.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Lozina, who fronted Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, had only finished a sentence for other violent crimes eight months ago.

The woman was hospitalised overnight after being attacked.

Speaking through Muslim community leader Steve Dabliz, the woman and her husband said they were still in a “state of shock” and “very fragile”.

“He just screamed at me, saying, ‘Muslims raped my mum’,” said the victim, who did not wish to be named for safety reasons.

The victim’s husband said: “My wife hardly ever goes out, but when her friends invited her for coffee, I told her to go and that I would look after the kids.”

In court, Magistrate Tim Keady said Lozina, who had no legal aid, was accused of making a racist comment to the woman before the alleged assault.

“After making a comment about Muslims, you approached her and punched her to the head 14 times,” Mr Keady said.

“For bail purposes I will treat that as a very strong case against you.”

In refusing bail, he cited Lozina’s extensive criminal history and adjourned the matter to December 5.

Lozina was only released from prison eight months ago. Sources told The Daily Telegraph he has a record going back to the late 1990s and was arrested again in January 2018 for common assault and threats to influence a judicial officer.

He was sentenced to four months in prison for the assault and given one year for the threats.

Lozina walked free on parole on March 21 and his sentence was ultimately completed on June 21.

Lozina did his time but authorities allege he continued to commit crimes.

He was charged twice for allegedly damaging property at Parramatta restaurant Jom Roti and at the police station on October 5.

That matter was before Parramatta Local Court on November 19, just one day before he allegedly stomped the expectant mother on the cafe floor.
