Man, 65, struck with hammer during road rage fight in Auburn

A 65-year-old man has been treated for a fractured skull after being attack during a road rage fight in Sydney’s west.

A man has suffered a fractured skull after being hit with a hammer in an alleged road-rage assault at Auburn on Thursday.

Paramedics were called to Ettalong St, in Auburn, about 3.40pm on Thursday, where they found a 65-year-old man with serious head injuries laying in the street next to his Holden ute.

The incident occurred at 3.40pm and a 24-year-old was arrested shortly after.

Auburn police were told two men were involved in a fight after a road-rage incident before the man, from Guildford, was allegedly struck with a hammer.

He was treated on the side of Ettalong St, and taken to Westmead Hospital where he was treated for a fractured skull.

He has since left hospital.

Police were able to track down the other party in the fight.

A 25-year-old man from Guildford was arrested sitting in his Volkswagon Golf parked nearby.

A hammer was found inside his car, which has been seized as part of the investigation.

The man, also from Guildford, was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

He has been refused bail to appear in Burwood Court today (Friday, February 1).
