A man accused of committing a sexual act on a woman on a train after it left Parramatta train station has fronted court.

Auburn man JI Yong Pak, 37, did not enter a plea today at Parramatta Local Court where he appeared via video link after being charged with committing a sexual act on a train in front of an 18-year-old woman on May 13.

Police allege the woman boarded the west-bound train at Parramatta train station about 8am when Pak allegedly sat facing her before exposing himself and committing a sexual act.

The woman got off the train at Blacktown before police were notified.

As part of an investigation, Police Transport Command North West officers arrested a 37-year-old man at the intersection of Church and Campbell streets, Parramatta, at noon on Thursday.

He was taken to Parramatta police station and charged with carrying out a sexual act with another without consent and travel or attempting to travel without a valid ticket.

The matter will return to court on June 12.
