Huseyin Sama charged over alleged ram raid at Greystanes Shopping Centre

A man who allegedly drove a van through a western Sydney shopping centre in an unsuccessful ram raid has been hit with multiple charges. See his arrest.

A man has been charged after a failed ram-raid at Greystanes Shopping Centre where a group of men allegedly tried to lift an ATM before fleeing in two vans.

Huseyin Sama, 40, will apply for bail on Thursday – a day after he was charged at Auburn after detectives appealed to the public and released CCTV showing two white vans allegedly used in the raid on Friday, March 14 at 4.20am.

The vans were forensically examined that day and police made further appeals to identify four men who may have assisted with the investigation.

Sama was arrested at a home on Simpson St at 7am and taken to Auburn police station where he was charged with eight offences.

He was charged with eight offences including aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intending to steal less or equal to value of $60,000, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner driver and driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period.

He was also charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing housebreaking implements, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and failing to comply digital evidence access order direction.

A bail application will be made in court today.
