Firefighters are battling an inferno that has engulfed a house at Guildford on Monday evening.
Fire and Rescue crews responded to the blaze at the Marian St home at 5.30pm.
More than 40 firefighters and 10 trucks are on scene at the property that is well alight.
“Crews initially attacked the fire internally but due to the intense heat and flames, were forced to withdraw and are currently attacking the blaze externally from multiple sides,’’ a Fire and Rescue NSW statement said.
The fire is also being attacked from above by an aerial platform.
Nearby residents have been evacuated and there is a large amount of smoke in surrounding locations.
People are being urged to close windows and doors and avoid the area if possible.
Operations are ongoing.
