Harris Park: Woman charged after hitting man with SUV

A man remains in a critical condition after an SUV hit him and caused head injuries in western Sydney on Sunday.

A 51-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly struck him with her SUV at Harris Park yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Good St on February 23 about 3.05pm and found a man suffering critical head injuries.

Paramedics treated the man, believed to be aged in his 60s, at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Cumberland police have been told the man was walking on the footpath along Good St when a Holden Captiva left the road and hit him, about 50m south of Bowden St, under the eastbound lanes of the M4 Motorway.

The 51-year-old Harris Park woman driving the SUV was arrested at the scene and underwent mandatory testing before being taken to Granville police station.

She was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

She has been granted bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday March 17.
