A man will face court next month accused of drink driving — on a lawnmower.
Cumberland highway patrol were carrying out random breath tests northbound on Ettalong Rd, Greystanes, on Tuesday about 9.25pm when they saw a large orange petrol powered ride-on lawnmower travelling south on the eastern footpath.
Police allege the man told them he had been travelling from Pendle Hill, about 2km from where he was stopped.
Police said the ride-on mower was more than 250kg and was subject to conditional registration requirements as determined by the RMS.
The ride on lawnmower had no registration, conditional or otherwise to allow it to be used upon a road.
The man returned a positive reading and the man was arrested for the purpose of a breath analysis.
He was taken to Granville police station where he was subjected to a breath analysis, which returned a high-range reading of 0.167.
Further inquiries discovered that the man was the holder of a NSW learner licence, which had expired over seven years ago.
It had also been disqualified until 2021 because of previous traffic convictions.
The Greystanes man was ordered to attend Fairfield Court on December 17.
He was also issued with several traffic infringement notices in relation to the unregistered mower.
