Work on the $10.74 million Granville Park upgrade – which will see the return of the Two Blues Rugby Union Club to their home ground – has started.
The Cumberland Council project features a new rugby field, multi-purpose rooms, a grandstand, kiosk and carpark.
The project, which received a $2.74 million State Government grant, will go towards the field’s reconstruction, lighting, stormwater drainage, irrigation and returfing, and wrap up by May 2021.
Cumberland Mayor Steve Christou said the step was an exciting one for a project at the heart of community sports.
“This sportsground is a place for community and sports enthusiasts to bring activity
and their passion for sports to life,’’ he said.
“We look forward to welcoming Two Blues Rugby Union Club back to a revitalised
home ground.”
The works will also see the reconstruction of the field, field lighting, stormwater
drainage, irrigation and returfing.
The State Government’s funding of the project was sourced from its Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund.
