Granville couple claims $200,000 Lotto prize a month after buying ticket
A shocked western Sydney couple discovered their newly-minted news more than a month after buying a Lotto ticket from a Granville newsagency.

A newly-minted couple took more than a month to claim their $200,000 Lotto prize after they bought a Lotto ticket from Granville Newsagency.
The Granville sweethearts, who plan to spend some of their prize on a cruise, bought the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1465 ticket from the South St newsagent before it was drawn on Wednesday, December 18.
But it wasn’t until Thursday, January 23, that the couple checked their ticket.
“It’s funny because my hubby was sitting in the lounge room and he said to me, ‘Come here I need to talk to you’, and I thought ‘What’s this about now?’ I thought it must be bad news,’’ the woman told NSW Lotteries.
“Then he screamed happily, ‘It’s a winner!’ and threw the ticket at me.
“We were so happy. We were jumping up and down and laughing.”
As well as enjoying a “romantic holiday together, the couple plans to pay off some of their mortgage and share some of the prize with family.
Granville Newsagency owner Feng Qi was thrilled he sold the winning ticket.
“I can only imagine how happy they must be,’’ he said.
“We hadn’t sold a major prize in a little while, so hopefully this is the start of a winning streak.”
It’s not the first occasion a winner has claimed their prize days after it has been drawn.
In October, a Merrylands mother won a staggering $12 million after playing Powerball at Greystanes Centre Newsagency but did not claim it until two days later after hearing media reports.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $11.49 million for draw 1475 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $1.93 million for draw 10346.
