Cumberland eateries on the food offenders list

Multiple eateries across a Western Sydney council area have been named and shamed on the NSW Food Authority register for flouting hygiene and safety standards.

Multiple businesses across the Cumberland Council area have been named and shamed on the NSW Food Authority register for flouting hygiene and safety standards.

The new offences were recorded between May and November. During that period, there were no new food safety breaches recorded within the Parramatta Council area.

At Greystanes, Flying Sushi was fined $880 in November for failing to display potentially hazardous food under the required temperature after previous warnings had been issued.

At Auburn, Student Biryani was slapped with an $880 penalty for not displaying food under the right temperature in September despite being warned previously.

S & L Global offended twice in May and was fined $1600 after inspectors found the Chisholm Rd premises failed to declare allergen and gluten on the labels. The Asian food importer also failed to list all ingredients on its labels.

Merrylands business Big Bun copped four fines worth $3300 in total in August for failing to ensure equipment surfaces were clean and sanitary after previous warnings had been given and for failing to protect food from the likelihood of contamination.

It also breached rules by failing to ensure a copy of the food safety supervisor certificate was kept on the premises and produced for inspection.

Stockland shopping centre’s Little Hong Kong was fined $1300 for failing to store food at the right temperature and not protecting food from contamination when it was inspected in July.

In the same month, Boost Juice was fined $880 for not maintaining easily accessible hand washing facilities at the Stockland shopping centre.

At Toongabbie, Portal Chicken was hit with a $2400 fine for falling short of cleanliness, not storing food in a way that prevents contamination and failing to provide soap near wash basins. The Aurelia St eatery is a repeat offender and had been issued previous warnings before its most recent breaches in November.

At Portico Pde, ignoring previous warnings to keep food at proper temperatures in August landed Muthu Curry Restaurant an $800 fine.

Pendle Hill’s Abie’s Take-Away is $2400 out of pocket for failing food handling and hygiene standards, inadequately controlling food temperature and not cooking potentially hazardous food that is up to code. The Pendle Way eatery offended in August and had been issued with warnings about each offence previously.

On the same street, Santhosam was fined twice in July for failing to cook potentially hazardous food safely and copped an $1600 fine for the offences — which it had committed previously.

At Lidcombe, Bakery Cafe Cael was ordered to pay $880 for failing to display potentially hazardous food under temperature control in July.
