A crane driver has escaped uninjured after a fire erupted in the engine of his truck while travelling along the M2 at North Rocks.
The eastbound crane was approaching Barclay Rd about 6.30am when it started.
It has been extinguished and the crane will be examined to determine the cause of the blaze.
Drivers should be aware of heavy traffic after one city-bound lanes remains closed.
Buses travelling eastbound are delayed by up 45 minutes.
