Coronavirus: Number of Parramatta, Cumberland cases revealed
New stats have for the first time revealed just how many cases of COVID-19 there are in each suburb. The figures reveal a worrying trend for Paramatta and surrounding suburbs with the likes of Wentworthville, Greystanes and Pendle Hill emerging as the deadly virus hotspots. NSW Health figures have revealed how many cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in suburbs across the Parramatta and Cumberland region.
There were 26 confirmed cases across the 2145 postcode that takes in Greystanes, Wentworthville, Girraween, Westmead, Pendle Hill, South Wentworthville, Pemulwuy, Constitution Hill and Mays Hill.
On Friday, Cumberland Council was forced to shut Pemulwuy Children’s Centre after a mother whose child attends the facility tested positive to COVID-19. She visited the centre twice over two weeks.
There are four cases across the 2142 postcode of Granville, Rosehill, Holroyd, Camellia, South Granville and Clyde.
At Merrylands and Merrylands West, four cases were reported while three were reported in the 2141 code that comprises Lidcombe and Berala.
The 2161 postcode of Yennora, Guildford, Guildford West and Old Guildford has are two residents with coronavirus.
Across the Parramatta local government area, Carlingford was the worst suburb hit with five cases.
There were five reported cases in Oatlands, Dundas, Telopea and Dundas Valley.
Sydney Olympic Park, Wentworth Point and Newington had four cases.
Ermington had four confirmed cases, as does Rydalmere. The 2150 postcode shared by Harris Park and Parramatta has four reported cases.
The 2151 postcode that encompasses North Rocks and North Parramatta have three cases.
Epping and North Epping have three cases while Northmead has two people with COVID-19.
Silverwater has one case.
The Western Sydney Local Health District, which incorporates Westmead, Auburn, Blacktown and Mt Druitt hospitals, has 216 positive COVID-19.
Data that was updated at 8pm on April 1, shows that this is the health district with the fourth highest number of cases.
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is the hardest hit with 510, followed by northern Sydney (409) and the Hunter-New England region with 237 cases.
