A positive case of COVID-19 has been linked to Our Lady of Mercy College at Parramatta.
The cases was one of three new cases reported to 8pm last night, including one that was acquired overseas and two who are close contacts of previous cases. As well as the OLMC case, the other is a healthcare worker at Liverpool Hospital.
The OLMC case is in self-isolation.
The fresh case comes as the school reopened on Monday after a two-week shutdown from August 8-9 following its first positive case.
In a statement, NSW Health warned the public to be cautious.
“While case numbers have remained low this week, the virus continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant.
“ It is vital that high rates of testing continue in order to find the source of the cases still under investigation and to identify and stop further spread of the virus.”
Coronavirus has hit the Parramatta community hard.
On August 12, much-loved Parramatta grandmother Jamilie Joseph died from COVID-19 after contracting it from the Our Lady of Lebanon church cluster at Harris Park, and was forced to spend her last moments alone because her family also had the virus.
The same day, Parramatta Public School closed after a student tested positive. Other schools to close temporarily after students were diagnosed with COVID-19 included Bayanami Public School and Cerdon College at Merrylands while other premises to record infections in the Cumberland-Parramatta hotspot included Anytime Fitness at Merrylands, Milky Lane Parramatta, St Margaret Mary’s Primary School in Merrylands and Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club.
