Brawl that stopped traffic in Parramatta was planned fight between two school boys

POLICE say what appeared to be a brawl in Parramatta last night was actually a fight between two school boys with numerous onlookers.

DOZENS of young man appeared to be involved in a brawl on a busy Parramatta street last night, but police say it was actually a fight between two school boys with numerous onlookers.

Police were called to the intersection of Macquarie and O’Connell Streets in Parramatta about 5.10pm on Tuesday after receiving reports that about 50 youths were reportedly involved in a fight.

A NSW Police media spokeswoman said today that it “wasn’t really a brawl”, but was instead “a pre-arranged fight” between two school aged kids.

A nearby office worker told the Parramatta Advertiser that she didn’t see a fight but lots of teenagers gathered on the street.

“I saw big groups and two cop cars here,” she said.

“I left out the back after seeing so many kids out there.”

Footage aired on the Seven Network last night showed the melee spilling on to the road.

Traffic ground to a halt on the busy road as the youths appeared to fight in broad daylight.

Police attended last night and spoke to the youths, before dispersing the crowd.

None of the teenagers appeared to be injured and no one was arrested.
