Australasian Soccer Academy opens $1 million performance centre
The Australasian Soccer Academy is aiming for its new performance centre— complete with dedicated FIFA room — to be a ‘breeding ground’ for the next generation of Socceroos.
The Australasian Soccer Academy’s founder Tony Basha said he hopes the academy’s new performance centre will become a “breeding ground” for the next generation of Socceroos.
Located in Clyde, the $1 million Australasian Sports Centre is based on the Manchester City Football Club’s academy facilities.
The state of the art amenities include a class room, tactical room, training pitch, gym, recovery room, change room and even a room entirely dedicated to FIFA.
“There is no other place like this in Sydney,” Mr Basha said.
“I am hoping this facility will be a breeding ground for our next Socceroos.
“I built this for all weather purposes and we also have our professional coaches from Spain working in the centre.
“Players can’t have anymore excuses.”
As well as being a place where the country’s top young footballers can hone their craft, Mr Basha wants the centre to be a “home away from home” for kids in western Sydney.
“We also hope to keep the local kids off the street,” he said.
“The big reason (for the centre) is to keep troubled kids off the street. We will be looking for government grants and sponsorship for the centre and we will also allow schools and the community to access the centre.
“It takes a lot of guts to get into something like this, But I am doing it purely for the kids.”
