Auburn: Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival 2022 picture gallery

On the cusp of spring, nature lovers, Instagram influencers and fans of Japanese culture flocked to the Cherry Blossom Festival, which was ablaze with pink petals. See the gorgeous photographs.

Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival 2022

It’s been three years since the arresting beauty of the baby pink petals at Auburn Botanic Gardens have proudly unfolded for the public at the Cherry Blossom Festival but on a sun-drenched weekend, the much-loved tradition made a perfect comeback for its many admirers.

Right on cue, Japan’s national flower dazzled its audience in western Sydney, with visitors happy to drain their camera batteries to capture the stunning canopy on its opening weekend after Covid caused its hiatus in 2020 and 2021.

Running until August 28, the ticketed event sold out at the weekend when visitors were assigned 45-minute time slots to meander through the cherry blossom trail, picnic areas, sunken rose garden, pool of reflection and lakes.

Along with the floral fix, foodies were catered for at the Japanese Food Village which featured pastel concoctions such as the Tokyo lamington, OMU (seasoned rice) and waffles along with ramen burgers, tempura mushrooms and steamed bao buns, washed down with bubble iced tea.

Perhaps the next most popular drawcard after the blooms was Hello Kitty, who only visits the festival on weekends and skilfully divides her time between taking selfies with fans and hosting a garden party.

Enjoy the photos capturing the natural beauty photos of the cherry blossoms.
