A book titled Mothers Who Murder examining some of the most notorious criminal cases in Australia, was launched in Parramatta this week.
The author, senior lecturer Xanthe Mallet, from the University of New England’s Parramatta campus said it was an area that had long fascinated her.
The book looks at high profile cases, including the murders of six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams and two-year-old Dean Shillingsworth, whose body was found in a pond.
Dr Mallett said in many of these cases people knew there was a problem but did not want to get involved.
“If you genuinely think a child is in danger or being neglected or at risk of serious harm call DOCS or emergency services and let a professional make that decision,” she said.
