WITH riverfront views, a vast and beautifully decorated space and a menu that appeals to a range of palates, the newly opened The Meat & Wine Co adds another exciting dimension to Parramatta’s ever growing food scene.

The restaurant’s African style decor, complete with earthy tones, warm lighting and rich textures, provides an inviting space with an eclectic mix of artwork.

The large open space dining area downstairs is complemented by private dining rooms upstairs, offering plenty of options for groups of all sizes.

The menu features The Meat & Wine Co’s signature Monte beef range, plus beef, pork and lamb ribs and skewered meats from salmon to kangaroo.

Staying true to the second half of its name, the restaurant’s extensive wine list can be navigated with the assistance of knowledgeable staff to pair the right drink to the chosen cut of meat.

The entrees showcase the kitchen's full range of expertise, from the shaved octopus to the whisky cured salmon and the chilli lime pork belly.

Sides can go as light (salads and sauteed greens) or as rich (mac and cheese, onion rings, hasselback potatoes with cheese and bacon) as you like, although save some room for the decadent list of desserts and cheeses.

For those that prefer a liquid dessert, finishing the evening with one of the restaurant’s alcoholic treats will be the way to go.

The Verdict: Four stars
