As part of the Postcode Pride series Northern District Times is searching for the best pizza in and around Ryde and Macquarie Park. Have your say!

When it comes to pizza, the Ryde and Macquarie Park has no short supply of wood-fired winners.

We have chosen our seven best spots to down the glorious Italian carbs, but it’s up to you to say which is the best. See our list below.

Verace Pizza, Macquarie Park

The only chef worthy to call themselves the best in the world on this list is Stefano Cirene from Verace Pizza in Macquarie Park. The smiling chef has won countless awards for his creations, including our personal award of having the sauciest margherita pizza on Earth, as well as other real awards like taking out gold at the 2018 World Pizza Championships and the most outstanding restaurant in the Local Business Awards.

NOTE: Try the dessert pizza with ricotta and pear, who said pizza should be savory?

UBar, Macquarie Park

You’re a little tipsy, studying has been a pain and it’s late, but UBar is there for you. UBar is always there for you. The bar and eatery is inside Macquarie University and if there’s one thing students know, it’s good pizza. Fabio De Lutiis, head chef extraordinaire, trained in Venice 20 years ago and in that time he hasn’t skipped a beat, churning out the very best traditional Italian pizzas.

Anema e Core, Gladesville

Do you want authentic wood-fired pizza like nonna makes? Anema e Core is the “heart and soul” of quality Neapolitan pizzas. The wood-fire oven is huge and the coffees are tiny, but the pizzas are a visual feast. Ask anyone and they’ll rave about the fantastic pizzas that stretch across the table and in dreams for years after.

Bar Pizza, Gladesville

Date nights don’t have to be awkward if you book in at Bar Pizza. The low-lit and sleek bar might seem small but it is bursting with character and most importantly flavour. Go for the Caprese pizza for a delicious and fresh take on the delightful salad.

Via Napoli, Hunters Hill

Luigi Esposito has pizza in his blood. Legend has it, as a child he would sell pizzas from a roadside wagon in Naples, and now years later he shares that childhood passion with his customers at Via Napoli in Hunters Hill. The vigour of Via Napoli fans is hard to match and they will throwdown with anyone that suggests there is a better marinara pizza in the city.

Pizzeria Locale, Meadowbank

For many Pizzeria Locale is a true hidden gem in Meadowbank. Tucked away in the Shepherds Bay Village Plaza the restaurant doesn’t shy away from putting pineapple on its pizzas. In fact, order the Tropical and you’ll see there should be no debate, pineapple belongs.

Italian Gourmet Pizza, West Ryde

Quaint, cute, and generous. Italian Gourmet Pizza doesn’t hide behind any bells and whistles, it just makes good (and BIG) pizzas. Pizzas that have slices you need two hands to manage. Slices that need to be folded just to take a bite, that bring the toppings right to the edge; the perfect pizza.

HAVE YOUR SAY! None of these pizza places float your boat? Let us know.
