A boy has undergone surgery at hospital after being hit by a car on a busy road in Sydney’s north yesterday.
Emergency services were called after a pedestrian was hit by a grey Mazda sedan at Victoria Road near Falconer Street in West Ryde about 5pm on Tuesday (August 25).
CareFlight’s helicopter was dispatched and landed at Anzac Park in West Ryde before the patient was intubated and placed in an induced coma to stabilise him.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries.
Earlier reports said he was a man in his 20s yet it has since been confirmed the patient was a 14-year-old boy.
Police were told the boy was hit as he attempted to cross the road.
On Wednesday afternoon, police said the teen underwent surgery and was stable.
Ryde Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, returned a negative breath test at the scene and was taken to Ryde Hospital for further mandatory testing.
