LEO Abisaab sent his audition to The Voice with one minute to spare.

It paid off for the 14-year-old Lidcombe boy who got a call a few days later saying he’d been successful. See how the Marsden High School student’s blind audition went next Tuesday on Channel 9 from 7.30pm.

He is the youngest person to ever audition for the show and he’s been waiting since season one for his chance.

To make the occasion more momentous, he celebrated his 15th birthday on the day of his blind audition.

The self-proclaimed misfit said he’d had a long time to develop his singing style.

Since the age of three he’s been singing and had lessons. As he’s developed he’s gravitated towards soul music.

“When I perform I put all my emotions into it,” the Year 10 West Ryde student said.

“I find it easy to convey the emotions. If something comes over me, I know I’m in the zone and ready to perform.

“Every year I’ve wanted to audition for The Voicebut this year I finally felt ready.

“I thought I’d go for it. It is such an amazing opportunity and platform for artists like me.”

The teen reminisced over his first public performance. The then-kinder student belted out Kool and The Gang’s Celebration wearing love heart sunglasses and dance moves to boot back in 2008.

Fast forward and the western Sydney teen has got his big chance with The Voice judges Boy George, Delta Goodrem, Joe Jonas and Kelly Rowland.

“There are lots of home movies with my singing. My parents have always been so supportive of me,” he said.

“I’ve had lessons for the last 11 years, running me back and forth.

“It means a lot to show that it’s all paid off.

“I cannot see myself doing anything else — music is my life and passion.”

To progress to the next stage, the teen needs one of the judges to turn their chair during his blind audition.
