Gladesville

Teens charged with numerous offences after party

Two teens were charged after a wild party in Gladesville last Saturday.

Police were called to the intersection of Western Crescent and Morrison Road after receiving a call at about 10pm.

When they arrived, they saw 20 teenagers in and around a house who were allegedly highly intoxicated, loudly swearing at police and acting in a disorderly manner, with broken bottles of alcohol all over the road and surrounding properties.

Police observed another large number of teenagers within the residence acting unruly and immediately started to act hostile towards police. Police noticed a large amount of broken glass bottles, empty cans and holes in the walls of the residence.

Police conducted enquiries into who the owner of the property was and were informed that the residence had been hired over “Air BnB” with the owners of the property not currently home.

When Police informed the teenagers that they were to immediately leave the premise, they became aggressive towards police, swearing and threatening police with violence.

Two teens aged 15 and 16 were issued with Move on directions to leave the area. The two became aggressive towards police, continually swearing and disobeying the direction to leave.

The 15-year-old then pushed a male Constable in the chest. The teen was placed under arrest.

While arresting the 15 year old, the 16 year old teen began swearing and abusing police and trying to free the 15 year old from police custody. He was also placed under arrest and on effecting the arrest both teens resisted police.

Both teens were taken to Ryde Police Station where they were charged with offences including failing to comply with direction and using offensive language in a public place.

An Airbnb spokesman said: “We unequivocally condemn this reported behaviour and are committed to both supporting the host and assisting NSW Police with their investigations. The alleged wrongdoers have been removed from our platform.

“While negative incidents are extremely rare, Airbnb has zero tolerance for such illegal activity. We enforce strict policies that may result in removal from our platform where violations occur. Unauthorised and ‘open invite’ house parties are forbidden on our platform, and our community standards require guests to behave in a manner that’s respectful of the neighbourhoods in which they’re staying.”

The teens will appear in Surry Hills Children’s Court on 6 July 2020.

Man charged with assault after road rage incident

A 35-year-old man from Carlingford was exiting a shopping centre car park about 2:35pm on June 28. As he was making his way towards the exit, another man was also driving towards the exit.

It is alleged that the 35-year-old man pulled in front of the other man’s vehicle, merging from two lanes into one.

The man did not leave sufficient space between the two vehicles to complete the merge safely, resulting in the other driver having to brake heavily in order to avoid a collision.

When the vehicles came to a complete stop it is alleged that the Carlingford man got out of his car.

The other driver had thought the man wanted to speak to him and wound down his window.

It is alleged that the 35-year-old man punched the driver in the face so hard his glasses broke and he suffered a cut.

The man tried to use his phone to take a picture of the man, when it is alleged that the man punched the victim again before snatching the phone from the victim’s hands and throwing it onto the ground causing it to smash.

About 6pm that day, police went to the Carlingford man’s home and he was arrested and charged with assault, stealing and two counts of malicious damage.

He was given strict bail conditions and will now appear in Burwood Local Court on 10 August 2020.

Man charged with drug offences after proactive patrols

Police were patrolling Pope Street when they observed a vehicle pull quickly into a driveway and park after midnight on June 27.

An 18-year-old man from Ryde got out of the car where police stopped him and saw money in the centre console of the vehicle.

In a search, police found an amount of cash in his pocket along with nine clear resealable bags containing a white powder believed to be cocaine in the front centre console.

The man was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with possessing a prohibited drug, supplying a prohibited drug and dealing with the property proceeds of crime.

The man was released on strict bail conditions and is now due to appear in Burwood Local Court on 17 August 2020.

Macquarie Park

Man charged with theft of bikes

A 42-year-old man from Eastwood was sighted by Police to be riding a mountain bike along Epping Road about 2.30pm on June 26.

Police stopped and spoke to the man before conducting further checks on the man and the bike.

Police believed that the bike may have been stolen from a Macquarie Park address in April this year.

The man was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where further enquiries were made.

The man was charged with a string of offences including break and enter and stealing offences.

He will appear in Burwood Local Court on 27 July 2020.
